As a massage therapist, I focus on physical medicine. As a naturopathic physician (ND), I am considered a primary health care practitioner.

Biography

I enjoy learning about life though nature, education, movies, and working with my patients. I live on a small farm with my husband and two children, where I am learning about raising organic animals and growing organic foods. The farm is an ongoing project to help teach me balance in the environment. In this way I can better learn how to bring balance to my patients. When asked by my husband what I wanted for my birthday, I replied eight hours of playing in the garden.

I practice medicine with an emphasis on "doctor as teacher" and a belief that the power to heal lies within each one of us. Life is a journey of learning and growing. When we are in harmony and balance, life flows and health glows. Imbalances can happen on five levels: mentally, emotionally, physically, chemically, and spiritually. Working together with my patients, I help to find imbalances, remove blockages, and create optimal health.

As my main focus, I offer a unique combination of massage therapy/bodywork, counseling, and naturopathic medicine to effectively bring relief to my patients in pain. I gently work with patients with chronic pains like Fibromyalgia, carpel tunnel, and TMJ, as well as acute pains after injury, surgery, or car accidents.

I am also a full-service naturopathic doctor and see patients with a wide array of concerns. I use a mixture of naturopathic treatments including nutrition, supplements, herbs, homeopathy, IV therapy, massage, bodywork, microcurrent, naturopathic manipulation, exercise therapeutics, hydrotherapy, minor surgery, spiritual practices, and counseling.

I am presently teaching massage at the National College Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM) and see private patients in my Beaverton office adjacent to my home. I also consult via E-mail.

My mission statement:

To help myself and others understand the laws of nature and to use that knowledge to create optimal health.

Six principles for my naturopathic practice:

  1. I believe that the laws of nature must be understood and followed to obtain optimal health.
  2. I identify and treat the cause.
  3. I treat the "whole person" by working as needed on five levels: mentally, emotionally, physically, chemically, and spiritually.
  4. I do no harm with my treatments.
  5. I educate my patients.
  6. I practice prevention as the best "cure."

Goals of my practice:

  1. I love my work.
  2. I care about people.
  3. I listen and pay attention.
  4. I believe humanity is important.
  5. I educate my patients in the ways of health.
  6. I treat the whole person.
  7. I respect my patient's individual healing processes.
  8. I help patients recognize and follow the wisdom of their innate knowingness.
  9. I help patients recognize and be true to their higher self.
  10. My patients and I are cohorts on the journey of life and health.
