Nutritional/Immune Intravenous (IV) and Intramuscular (IM) Therapy
Definition
Nutritional/Immune Intravenous (IV) therapy is the injection of nutrients (i.e.
vitamins, minerals, amino acids and O2) into the veins.
Nutritional/Immune Intramuscular(IM) therapy is the injection of specific
nutrients prepared for the muscles (i.e. B12 shot)
Indications for IV Therapy
- Viral infections
- Colds
- Flues
- Hepatitis
- Herpes simplex
- Herpes zoster
- Chronic systemic candida
- Epstein Barr virus
- Bell's palsy
- HIV/AIDS
- Malnutrition/Malabsorption
- Crohn's disease
- Celiac disease
- Diabetes
- Alcoholism
- Alzheimer's
- Cardiovascular diseases
- Arrhythmias
- Asthma
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
- Emphysema
- Migraines
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Cancer
- Chronic pain
- Parkinson's disease
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Fibromyalgia
- Neuralgia
Whether performed by a naturopathic physician or allopathic doctor, nutritional
IV and IM are a valuable
enhancement to health and well-being.
Benefits of IV Therapy
- Supplies essential nutrients in patients with malabsorption problems
- Stimulates and supports immune system
- Improves circulation and unblocks arteries
- O2 treatments kill many harmful pathogens--viral,
bacterial, and fungal, as well as some tumors
- Decreases aches and pains
- Increases cellular detoxification
- Increases body's ability to heal
- Relieves headaches
- Gives a sense of well-being
Brief History of Nutritional/Immune IV Therapy
Modern IV therapy is less
than a century old. Yet, it was known that
medications could be injected into a vein as
early as the 1600's. Because of a lack of
scientific methods, original attempts to deliver
IV fluids and drugs met with little success. Two
world wars brought in the era of modern IV
therapy. However, the greatest advance in drugs,
equipment, and procedures has occurred in the
past 25 years.
Brief History of Hydrogen Peroxide
| 1811 | Dr. Nysten used H2O2 successfully on
dogs. |
| 1886 | Dr. Cortelyou used O2 in treatment of diseases of the nose and throat. |
| 1916 | Dr. Turnicliffe and Dr. Stebbing used H2O2
in humans for the first time in England and presented findings in The Lancet. |
| 1920 | Dr. Oliver and Dr. Cantab gave H2O2 to
Indian troops
in India for pneumonia. |
| 1940 | Researchers lost interest in O2 with the
advent
of drug therapies. |
| 1960 | Baylor University Medical Center did research on the use
of H2O2 in cancer and hardened arteries. |
